No feedback so far? I love it, it had a ton of potential! I really enjoy how organic the first shot feels. In conparison, the straight lines from the palisade and the road entrance feel pretty off.. Especially compared to the round organic house shapes
Id try loosening thah up a bit. But its tricky you want the area around the palisade cleared out. Those trees in front atm are so massive, the look like chopping them down could result in an easy break of palisade. Maybe add a moat? Maybe make it wave over the terrain a bit more organically? Not sure if that makes sense
Agreed about the palisade, and it does look fun. I especially like the first shot.
As for the lighting and color scheme, something a bit more pastel with less harsh shadows might work well. And maybe some color variations for the trees. I'm not sure how much you still want to change, and this, too, is more about logic, but that river in the background seems to be angled quite steeply. Would probably have rapids or a waterfall or eaten even deeper into the terrain.
The palisade is placed where the terrain gets pretty wide again. Could be done out of necessity, and should be fine against wild animals, but other than a moat, there's probably ways to make use to the river and general geography a bit better. Not only is there a large tree right in front, but also a small hill. You'd probably incorporate that.
Here are some updates shots of my environment. The foliage on the outside of the town and grass on the inside are both kind of placeholders for now, I'm currently working on Set Dressing the Interior. There will be more updates soon. There are a lot more Screenshots iv taken but I feel It would be overflooding this thread to post all that . Let me know its you need more and I will post them.
I'm so sorry I couldn't respond to you guys earlier, I completely forgot I posted on here. The trees at the front would certainly be trimmed. Those trees existed from the first block-out I made months ago just to visualize and plan my environment so I just replaced them with the trees I created now. My focus was more on the inside of the town so I didn't pay much mind to them, but yea those Trees will experience the full wrath of a Sawblade.
I'm not familiar with the term palisade but im guessing it means the large fences on either sides of the Entrance Arch. I've placed those all around the small town, and I agree, the straight line is odd. I will break it up a bit. As per the Geography Edits, I'm afraid I cant make too many changes as i have things planned for it.
Please look at the new Shots I have posted and let me know what you think. *These renders are not final yet*
That's some impressive progress. How much are you modelling/texturing yourself? I did expect something a bit more stylized or even cartoony going by the shape of the houses, but everything seems to shape up great.
I have modelled and textured every single thing in the scene including materials and foliage. The Meats are photoscans turned into materials.
I started out using Megascans assets but as I am still trying to find a job, I didn't want to have any weak links like "oh you've used megascans" during recruitment. Which is why I decided to create everything. The Thatched roof material still uses Megascans but I will be replacing that along with some cards on top.
I am hearing Cartoony for the second time from people in feedback and I am scratching my head on how to address that because my intention is for it to not be cartoony. Maybe its the bright/saturated colors or maybe its the lighting. In any case Il be sure to change that as I approach the end of project.
It would be nice to add some wear to the floors and grounds. Right now, all the floorboards are the same colors so they all look brand new. Same with the dirt, there should be evidence of where people have walked, over a long time, so it looks more "lived in".

I have also made a walkthrough video and I hope you give it a watch to see what the Entrance currently looks like..
I will be Set Dressing outside the entrance too.

But like said, that impression has changed already.
Thanks for the clarification. All the more impressive.
