Entry level freelance opportunities

Hello, I want to start working using my 3D skills. I understand how to work with blender substance painter marmoset toolbug.

The problem is that I don't quite understand where I can be useful. My portfolio looks like it's for the gaming industry, but is anyone interested in me without knowledge of the Unreal engine or at least other "Industry standard" software? I don't have a goal to work specifically in the game industry. Where can I find any kind of jobs realisticly for my skill?

I understand that I can't get a job in a studio with my skills yet; I consider freelancing as an opportunity to gain experience, since it seems to me that it has a lower entry barrier. Share your thoughts freely.
Here is my portfolio: https://www.artstation.com/yevhenii_moskovchenko

    If I were you I'd work on more personal projects and think of 3d art as a hobby, at least until the industry gets back on it's feet. There are usually art jams, game jams and art contests going on in the unreal engine and artstation communities which will get you acquainted with the skill bar & your peers. You can try applying to job openings, but I wouldn't expect any responses back at the moment.

    i would take the advice above i would also add that if you want to work in a studio at some point. dont get into freelancing. i made the mistake of thinking getting experience through freelancing would help me get a studio gig. it actually did the opposite :( studios will not hire you for entry level  junior rolls if you have experience and you cannot get a mid level job without studio experience. so hone your craft. treat it as a hobby possibly help some folks make mods for games

    @cardinal

    Why would studios care whether or not you've freelanced?

    probably depends what you're applying for - freelance work doesn't prepare you for 3 year project cycles or navigating the stormy seas of getting shit done in a studio environment so if that's a priority to the people hiring you're screwed
    freelance experience on top of the requisite studio experience would potentially make you a more attractive prospect though.

    You certainly can't make any sort of blanket statements - it's entirely context dependent.

    So if you have freelance experience though no studio experience, none of that counts towards trying to get you into a studio?

    Like said, it depends.
    And it will count a lot towards getting you into one of the studios you did freelance work for if you did a good job and employment makes sense for them. Perhaps more true for smaller studios, though.
