Xgen Collection is not showing

Hi, guys. I need help with my Xgen Collection.

Yesterday I saved my file and when I opened it today, my xgen collection was not there and the hair strands are not showing on the viewport, but are still showing on the outliner. Before starting the xgen process I selected 'set project', and created a new collection, but I'm not able to import any file to reopen the collection since none of the files I found here are working. I don't really know which file I should search for to reopen the collection. Not sure what I should do :/ .

I appreciate any help.

Do the xgen files exist on your harddrive in the project? Where is your project located and how is it called?

  • Mercikai

Yes. It's located in a folder on my Desktop and it's called ''Hair_card__Hair_straight''.

And all the xgen files are in the xgen folder?

  • Mercikai

Yes, I checked and they were all there.

I have been using XGen for a week and I found a solution for this, I recently had the same problem, Maya crashed and then it doesn't recognizes my XGen collection and description either, you have to open the XGen window and select "Import Collection or Description"

and after that choose the Collection tab

click on the folder icon and search your .xgen file located in your project folder -> scenes folder and it will import the XGen hair data.

    Hope it helps

This just happened to me, and I actually figured out a work around for when this happens, so you at least don't have to start over from scratch. If you are using placing/shape guides. You can create a blank description in the same file, then convert the guides from your groom to curves in the utilities panel. This will at least let you get all of your guides back as curves, which you can then create a new collection and convert them back to guides again. Hope this helps.
