How to rig mechanical 3d models if they are a bit complexed?
vehicles, robots ?
how to get technical about it ? do you gather refrences? where? how? just by google and youtube?
in other words, what is needed to become a good rigger?

could you say for rigging it's a problem solving job?
Yes, partly. But the same is true for all cg jobs. Good riggers understand how to animate, what the needs of an animator are, when a model needs to be fixed vs the rig itself, how to export/import into the target game engine, how to create control rigs to make an animator's job easier, etc.
