Working on an environment portfolio piece, after watching Civvie 11's video on Powerslave I was inspired to make something Egyptian themed! Here are the first stages of my block-in. I don't think i've done a large environment piece before, only small snapshots of furniture and floor, so this'll be interesting.
Critiques and questions are welcome for this piece, I would like more insight from wizened eyes!
Been a while since I last posted! The previous environment practice was stymied by the discovery of better landscaping tools in UE5, so I'll be dedicating time to learning that on the backburner! I am currently working on a passion diorama scene with 4 characters in it. Fans of Stranger Things or Last Man might want to keep an eye out!
Below are a couple WIP shots of the rough pose block-ins. The characters will look more like themselves once i start adding material and clothing.
The above diorama proved too much to keep my attention, four characters is too much! I'm learning more and more UE5, I'll revisit the egyptian scene utilizing the landscaping tools from UE5.
After an attempt to set up a Halo-themed environment within UE5, I got lost in the placement of prefabbed geometry. There would have only been one or two original assets in the scene, so I will not proceed with that, and instead revisit the egyptian scene as previously mentioned, but this time assembling the scene within UE5. The assets can be made in blender with neutral world origin and I create my own prefabricated objects to help with environment construction. While more time costly this will also allow me more control over the poly-count.
However, in the meantime, I have been working on a project as fan art!
The alien 'Momo' is finished! Good character practice and sinking my teeth into rigging unconventional limb types like digitigrade legs! I also got more experience with rigging heavy-set characters, the proportions were a little difficult to weight paint, and as such the legs in default position are way wider set. The legs, when posed correctly, clips into the torso. This allows the character to have more natural looking fatty tissue.
