[FINISHED] MK18 - Daniel Defense

This started as a modeling exercise a long time ago. Finally got to finish it. Definitely want to give another weapon or had surface project a go.

Texture resolution looks very low.

Thank you very much for pointing that out. I was thinking the 2048x2048 maps were fine, but when I bumped it up to 4098x4098, it made a big difference.

These are the screen shots I've taken in UE5 after updating the texture resolution. I definitely saw the quality change in the text I had on parts of the rail. I'm not sure if the quality is showing in the attached images however.

How many textures do you use and how did you divide them? Do you have one for the receiver and one for the handguard + barrel etc?

I actually had all the UVs on one texture map. I had not thought of using separate texture maps when I unwrapped them.

One texture set for a whole weapon is not enough I'm afraid that why your texture looks so low res. You should divide your model in few parts like this.

Thank you so much for the feedback, Zi0. I assumed that I would be put the textures all on one texture map, similar to tutorials I've seen on pistols. But as you have color-coded in here the different parts, I will try more texture maps for my next weapon project.

Pistols are much smaller than full platform AR's

With the same resolution/texel density as Zi0 has split, any pistol would be about the same size as any of those material splits/color codings, especially the buttstock.

Also without seeing your UVs, try to take as much advantage as you can with overlapping/stacked UVs.
