  There is a possibility an actual metal panels have  been done in hi res geometry through floating geometry parts or extusion then baked into curvature map and AO maps and processed through usual smart masks in SPainter.

  
  

  Or maybe it's all just procedural starting from black&white binary image  of panel seams
