Hi Guys,

I’m the creator of PolyStripsFromCurves, a new plugin for Modo aimed at realtime hair creation (but not limited to it), available for win64 and osX.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLU7K6XJIM0

The kit has been developed entirely from scratch in C++, with a fast workflow in mind. I’ve tried to keep the number of buttons and commands to a minimum, without sacrificing power and versatility.

Key features are:

- Polystrips and cylinders generation from multiple curve items.
- Global and Per-vertex Scale, Twist and Bend deformations.
- Easy generation of UV presets, to quickly assign the uvs of a strip to a space in the hair texture.
- Perlin Noise Displacement.
- Curve to Background tool and meshOp, useful to attract curves from a proxy mesh to the scalp.
- Thinning Tool and meshOp.
- Curve Duplicator, to quickly clone source curves with uniform or poisson distribution, and stitch them to a background mesh if needed.
- HairGen Substance to quickly prototype hair textures.

Included in the kit is a substance file that can help you to quickly prototype hair textures. Of course, being a .sbsar file, it can be used in a whole bunch of applications, like Substance Designer, Painter, or even directly inside of Modo.

Ciao Marcello, complimenti. I found this page looking for solutions for realtime hair. If only I'd used modo, I think I already tried it, if your plugin could be tried. I find hair very difficult to do. I wonder how nobody replied to you since 3 years: though, your plugin looks more friendly than others (at least the ones I tried).
