    +1 for video examples, very helpful! I'll be calling out the marking menu options here.

    1) Break is called Detach Component, can be used on face/edge/vert. Shift+RMB (in the lower menu)

    2) Yes. q, w, e, r + lmb is the marking menu for each of these tools, it's common to go between world and local coordinates this way, or Component to move by normals. Also, holding ctrl+shift, then moving a component slides it along edges, there is a surface slide mode under the move tool's Transform Constraints that can be toggled.

    3) Kinda. I'd probably boolean a plane for the first part. The Multi-Cut tool can do the quick slice by MMB dragging from outside the model. You can constrain where it cuts with a face selection.

    4) Yes/No, but there are third party scripts, I believe. You can set the scale tool to Component mode to do the same thing.

    5) Yes, but not as a elegant. Select an edge, shift+RMB, Flip/Spin Edge is in the northeast.

    6) Same as 1.

    7) Yes, Windows>General>Component Editor, Polygons tab. There is a UI feature in the upper right, the icon can be clicked to enter absolute or relative transforms, but not to view them. The other two modes are select by name and rename, I forget which is shown by default and I don't think it's obvious the icon can be clicked.

    8) Edit>Duplicate Special [] is about the same. One thing to remember about Maya is that the last thing you do in an options menu becomes the default the next time you call it either by selecting it from the menu or by hotkey. Shift+d duplicates while repeating the previous transform.
