Starting a new project - Tiny Mech

Finally getting a chance to start work on my tiny mech character. He is similar in size and weight to the smaller Mech characters in Warhammer 40K. I'm going for a more playful approach rather than a serious take on the mech. Just getting a chance to block in the geo and get a rough rig in him. Working on some modeling later this week.

Did a bit of high poly modeling and added in a more detailed launch cycle for missiles.

Updated the upper body mesh. Just trying to go mid-poly on this guy and get him into animation ASAP.

Planning on adding thrusters on the back of the main body next. Feel free to post any refs you guys think would be helpful.

Looks really cool, loving the style. It looks like it would be a lot of fun to animate.

If you are looking for any ideas on thrusters or anything along that line, there is a cool mech anime that has some really nice stylised mechs called Medabots. It might help you get some ideas

Really solid work! I love the subtle touch of follow through you animated in the rocket animation. I wish I could find a suggestion to make, but the little guy is already so appealing!

Added in the back thrusters and played around with a hand animated flame - just to test:) Also added some asymmetry with a claw and bayonet on the right arm.

I would see what adding a slight vibration to the thruster "cones" would do. It may end up being too much, but it could add some emphasis to the force of the flames. Loving all the additions though!

Mostly done with the preliminary modeling. Going to start rigging this guy and getting some animations done.

Rig is mostly done. Need to add IK/FK switching to the arms and the legs. Started working on some weapon animations to get to the fun part faster:
