I agree with Panda on that the texturing will be very important. But maybe add some more stuff and props to the boat, so you can give it a story and a more solid presentation? Like make it a small fishing boat? Or journeyman boat? There are lots of directions you can push it to make it really interesting.

@Brian "Panda" Choi and @Nuclear Angel I see wat you are saying about the texturing for the model. And I agree with adding more to the boat. I should of put more thought into that while making this model. I think I have some good ideas in mind too.

I started making some props for the rowboat to give some story behind. I started off with this lantern.

You do not have a lot of room left over for Padding, some of your UV Islands are way to close to each other (the circled ones). And all the strips you have should be straight not tilted. Also some of the shapes can be packed more efficiently.

There should be a "Layout" function in Maya's UV editor to help you with an initial packing set.
