Hey guys. I am 3d printing some custom toys. I recently made one using the work of Chris Brandstrom, and modifying it to fit a 6 inch figure. I am still in awe of the detail on his model, one of the best 3d models I've actually looked at in Zbrush, since he made it available for free http://www.badrobots.se/tam-posla/  Definitely check it out if you are a Star Wars nut like me.

I've been trying to detail my own models to try to get anywhere close to his quality. I just can't get that level of awesome, so any tips to get me closer would be lovely. Apologies for the awful screenshot, I'm at work and it's all I have. Right is mine.

It feels like doing anything "by hand", at least by hand, seems to take away from realism. Is that something others find true? For example, the seam around the bottom of the jacket. I wasn't too precious because as a printed toy I think it's fine, but it seems like doing this a more automated  such as panel loops would have given a more machined look.
