(W.I.P) Beyond Human - Game Environment

This is the scene I'm working on at the moment for the Artstation beyond human challenge, Any comments on how to improve the scene are very welcome.

Hey Manuel,

Nice work with all the modeling! A few things I'm noticing here:

- None of your lights seem to be casting shadows much - eg in your last screenshot, the generator-type machine with the smiley face sticker doesn't have any shadows below it, and it looks super unnatural.

- Your hologram signs could benefit from a better hologram material that's more glow-y and transluscent

- The texture on the small tugboat-looking ship in the second render has a very low texel density, it stands out as looking quite pixelated.

I had the cast shadows turned off on my skylight

, I turned it on for this ones.

I fixed the shadow issue , the signs are just neon signs based on references from Busan and Tokyo, I should probably add some dirt with decals so they don't look all so clean.

Regarding the boat it does have a very low res texture, I was originally planing on using that asset far away from the main cameras but since the scene is so large I want to get shots from different angles, once the main shots are finished I might go back to those and add more detail to those assets.

Particles!

I placed some particle systems on top of the rudimentary clouds I had before, It helped with the issue I had of darkening the left side of the scene in the first image and It also makes the silhouette of the main boat stand out a lot more than in previous iterations.

Looking neat! Personally kind of turned off by the giant, mostly solid blocks of color. Makes the entire thing reminiscent of children's building toys (the non Lego kind!). But hey I know some people like that, and overall the scene is quite nicely done.

Spent some time playing with the fog settings and realized the volumetric fog was turned off

, turned it on and made some adjustments, let me know what you think.

Toned down the fog and adjusted a couple of parameter to get a better light bake this time, also placed a new camera that I liked but that also means adding some more buildings in areas that where previously not visible.

Increased the atmospheric fog as suggested to separate the background from the foreground and give more depth to the scene, also tweaked the tree closest to the main camera view.
