Hi guys,

I have started a 3D character from a concept i saw on Artstation by Hicham Habchi (https://www.artstation.com/artist/hichamhabchi1

I started making the head, then the base mesh of the character following the Marc Brunet's Tutorial PBR Character for games.

If you have critics or advices, i would gladly take it, i want to improve myself. I will update this post as soon as I move forward in this project !

    Hi Nicolas,

i thought about that concept as well.^^
It's a good choise, but also a hard task for a beginner. What i can give you as an advice, go back to the start and focus on the anatomy. Study the human anatomy first, so you get a clear understanding of whats going on with muscles, connections, shapes, proportions and so on. Especially Overwatch characters have a strong clear, stylized anatomy, what makes them unique and recognizable.

At the moment your character is far away from a solid anatomy. The complete model/project would suffer a lot if you go on with it, at the end. Its a pitty for all the work and effort.

To understand that style it needs a lot of practise and technique.
Dont be scared about doing things over and over again. It gives you practice and knowledge.
Stay low on polycounts as long as you can. Detail is overrated.^^
Look at Disney Infinity charcters. Pragmatic anatomy at its best.
Try several body parts again and again as practice. At the end, you can create your character in zBrush in several parts and dynamesh them together. So you keep things adjustable till the end.
Lesliie van den Broeck is doing that for example. https://gumroad.com/leslievdb#

There are also fantastic books about anatomy out there.
Thats one of my favorites: https://www.amazon.com/Anatomy-Artist-Sarah-Simblet/dp/078948045X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499091780&sr=8-1&keywords=anatomy+for+the+artist

    Keep it up!
    Guido
