Geometry or Textures?

Which is more expensive?

Drawing the geometry, or drawing the texture?

I find that a lot of times I have to choose between the two:

1) Less Geometry, but textures are drawn behind geometry.

2) More Geometry, but textures are not drawn behind geometry.

Its the same. This should be handled by occlusion culling, if you have friendly geometry that works well with it.

Geometry and texture behind geometry doesn't render, if its split up into pieces, and if the engine supports occlusion culling.
