How to change up axis to y in 3ds max ?

helo guys
i recently bought a new unwrapping program headus uv layout 2. The problem i am having is that whenever i try to export the models as obj, I dont have an option to change the up vector to y except to Flip YZ - axis. i think its necessary for the headus because it's up vector is z.
Help is needed.

Short answer: you can't. The world coordinate system is set as it is with Z up.

Possible solutions:

rotate your model before exporting.
Check to see if the UV program is using world space or object space. IE rotate the model some arbitrary direction and export and see if it comes in just as wonky, if not, its in object space and you can fix the "up" vector by rotating the object's pivot in Max to point where you want.

isnt there an option in headus to change the up vector..?
just click Y in the second line...

You can change local xyz, Change pivot settings and rotate where ever you want your pivot to be. View mode will still show z up but in Local it should your set pivot. Reset xform before all of this. Also you can use dummy object to set your pivot.

Obj exporter in Max has an explicit option for this ( YZ-Flip ). On importing the uv mapped/edited obj, simply check the YZ flip option too, so that axis gets flipped back to 3ds Max's axis alignment again.
For convenience, simply create a preset called "Headus UV" with that options enabled for import/and export . Simply click on the preset table symbol and in the list window RMB->click on the title of an existing entry. That gives you a menu to add new or manage existing presets
