Turn off RMB selection in Maya

Okay so I have searched for an hour or so to try to find the solution to this and I might just be blind. In Maya I'm wondering if there is a way that I can turn off the RMB selection but still have the context menu appear. Basically when Im working on multiple objects in a scene I don't want to constantly be selecting a different object just because I RMB clicked to change to vertex or edge select and that RMB select wasn't hovering over my currently selected object.

This one of those things you just have to get used to, and it can be annoying if you're working with a tight set of models. You may be interested in something like this?
