Hello Polycounters! I've been working on my handpainting skills for a while, but I've always wanted a community where Handpainting was the focus, and I'd be among other like-minded people. Usually the community can be found in Subforums, or even in an individual thread. But I've seen that the interest in this style resonates with alot of people. And it goes beyond just Blizzard Style (although I'm sure it's the majority). So if you are interested in sharing AND asynchronously chatting with other handpainters, join the Handpainters Guild!

Share with other artists who you think would be interested in joining!

Update: We moved from Slack and now use Discord as March 15, 2017!

Never heard of slack.com before, but is there a specific reason for using it? If it was a regular openly viewable forum instead of a closed off invite-only one you'd probably get a lot more interest.

I think he answered your question above. AFAIK Slack is like a chat room where you can invite people to your room.
As Evolvyn mentioned above, his Slack mainly focus on Handpainting stuff, meaning that people only talk about handpainting.

Yeah, how about just making this a new channel in the existing Greentooth slack?

@PolyHertz: Slack is a chat community that is often used for internal chats between employees of a company. That is why it is invite only, because it was mainly used for companies, and they need that protection. Right now there isn't an open join feature with Slack.

As for making a channel in Greentooth, I think that would be cool for those who just want to post handpainted stuff. But I wanted to make a community of only Handpainters! Where we talk about that style. Then critique that style. Lists jobs for that kind of style. And make a collection on handpainting tutorials that will be easy to find!

It's more than just the technique I'm making the community for, it's environment I'm creating for the people who do it. Plus, since it is a such a niche group, it'd be nice just to get to know the small group thats dedicated to the specific craft.

Like I am in a slack for people who do only Blizzard Arts/Craft-Related things. It's nice to get to know those people more closely. And there is BrushForge on FB for ONLY handpainted texture artists. But I wanted to chat with those people, not only post work.

But please add a Handpainted Section for Greentooth, if you are still interested! I'm sure there are people who would not like to join just a dedicated community to handpainting only.

Next you know someone else is doing one for PBR , handpainted normals and sculpting with a mouse.

I agree, I'd prefer it if the greentooth slack just added a few handpainted sections. We also have a Skype handpainter group, you can message Odow if you want an invite to it :poly142:

Hey all! Just doing a bump! The guild is fairly active. ^^ But would like to have more join us if there are interested people out there!

So far we have channels like: Critique, Inspiration, Job Board, Collaboration, and an ongoing list of tutorials we find. BUT, I've compiled alot of those tutorials in a Google Doc.

Yeah, it would be nice to see some new faces. I like the guild, it's friendly and chill and there's something new to check out almost every day. People post links to their livestreams from time to time, and I've seen some cool stuff I would never have found otherwise through the inspiration channel.

Update: We now have a new site location for our website (art resources such as: tutorials, a materials pinterest board, and an inspiration newsletter) It's in the process of getting a facelift in the coming future too!
