Maya Xgen, region map problem

Hello good people,
I'm having an annoying issue with region map painting in Xgen. Thing is, it just won't do it. I can't figure out what the problem is, because sometimes, in others scenes, it does work and then it's all fine, but when it doesn't, it gets annoying. I'm sure there must be something causing it, but I can't put my finger on it.
Anyone?
EDIT: More on the problem - I create a new map, the mesh gets filled with my selected color (red, by default), but when I switch to blue or whatever and try to paint, nothing happens. I can see the tool, access its options, but painting just doesn't happen.

I had the same problem myself, it’s amazing how ineffective xgen is. Thanks for ever exposed the problem🤣
xGen iteself isnt ineffective. Its the implementation Autodesk did.
And on top Disney gave them only the half solution. The ptex painter is missing.
