WIP Male anatomy Critique

Hi eveyone, this is my first time posting here. So I just started learning about male anatomy and i need your help on it. This is what i've done so far

Welcome !

A few things :
- The head looks too big.
- The biceps/deltoids/triceps area is too blended together, try to define each muscles separately.
- Don't forget the tip of the claviculas where the neck muscles attach, it's a visually interesting area.
- The forearms look too thin, it looks weird especially from side view. And the more you approach to the wrists the less cylindrical they should be.
- You should put a limit between the abs and the obliques, see the picture below

the easiest way I found to start a character is to the start with silhouette. put a flat color on it so all you see are borders and make a really nice human anatomy silhouette front, 3/4, and profile view. than its mostly just feeling stuff in and tweeking. if I put a flat color on your model than most of it would look very tube like and thats not good, especially from a distance. bring it down to the lowest subdivision and work on the shape.

Some feedbacks , just like some people have told you earlier try to focus on the proportions first even using very low resolutions to blockout the major shapes, as soon as those are done and well established it will be easier to add details major problems now are that the arms are very thin in comparison to the torso, my advice will be looking a lot of references and try to study rules of anatomy so you can start to see when something is off id suggest looking up on bridgemans anatomy book

Thank you very much for your feedback. Yeah the arm is one of the things that i'm still not satisfied with. I will definitely make some adjustment to the arms.

His shoulders and the muscles around his upper back, especially the Teres Minor/Major look too large and blobby. It should suggest that they are lying gracefully under the deltoid.

Some more reference on the back muscles as it seems you pay too much attention to defining muscles such as his pecs and buttocks too early.

I would take Generic_Human advice and first block out his entire proportion first before you start any muscle definition. You can help yourself at looking at the reference and polypainting muscle regions as a start when blocking out your initial shape. I find it easier to work this way sometimes.

New update, i alter the pose a little bit, made some changes here and there. I'm still not satisfied but sometimes i just don't what is wrong and how to fix it.

It is a bit ironic to comment on your work since I am currently asking advice on the same matter... however I think there are some issues with the volumes of your muscles. That could be improved if you spent some time figuring out the planes of the male body. Something like that. I found the pic on pinterest so I can only give you the store link.
Anyway having those plane changes at the right place with the right strength will make your model look better;)
Also your pose is still quite stiff in my opinion. You could pull back the feet a bit. I also like to rotate the pelvis forward quite a lot resulting in a stronger S curve in the back.

@braintrain it's ok man we are all learning here. We should definitely help each others. Thank you very much for your input. I will improve my model and post it soon.

I think youve made really good progress on this, its coming together nicely. Im not the most qualified to talk anatomy but think the shoulders/biceps are the areas that seem "off". They would be fine for a slim and slender build, but looking at the stomach and legs, I get the impression your aiming for a well chisled and muscular character. If he was to lower his arms to his sides they would look too skinny. I think making the shoulders protroude out more and a bit more volume to the upper arm will help.

That said take my crit with a grain of salt, Im still a newbie with anatomy.
