Hey,
how can can I make a vehicle in 3ds max in such a way, that in a game. The asset will display damage like destroyed tires or windows?
To be specific, I try to make a vehicle for unreal engine.

How most games do vehicular damage is they build a vehicle out of multiple parts all parented together (chassis, doors, windows, hood etc.), and each part changes model and textures based on damage level, sometimes using decals for more details.
If you want an easy way to deform each part in 3DS Max you can possibly try displacement maps, or check out plugins like Rayfire.
For example, if I shoot from above on a aircraft wing. The wing will have a big hole or it breaks away. Depending on the amount of damage that is inflicted and which part is hit.
How would you do this?

A bullet hits a aircraft wing from above and the shader will deform the wing.
And cause a hole in the wing.

What I'd like to actually see is a combination of that, for small arms damage, and then a softbody damage simulation for crashes.
