Freelance questions

Ok I not sure if this is the right place to post the question but I recently just graduated college for 3D animation production and now focusing on 3D animations.. Currently looking at different studios to see what opportunities there are but my question is about freelancing. I looking to get into freelancing work to get started but I am not sure where to start or where to look.. I feel like if I can get started on some small projects I can work my way up..

How would I get started in freelancing and approaching small projects?

You could have a look on places like cgsociety collaborative project thread. There are some paid gigs and animators are usually in high demand.
