Subdivision geometry problem

Hello,
I want to model something like this(1st image) with subdivision geometry. I have tried adding edge loops(2nd image), but after subdivision it looks like this(3rd image). How can I create perfect subdivision geometry which looks like in the 1st image. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know it's not the most popular idea, but w/e: add more segments.

What Brygelsmack said. Basically, the more complex a shape on a curved surface needs to be, the more divisions you should start with before adding those complexities.

(In the image below you don't necessarily need all the circumference loops on the right example but you definitely need to begin with more sides to your cylinder.)

Thanks guys. I have tried adding more segments before. Actually, I'm modeling a complex object like this (1st image) which has a cylindrical part which attached to some other parts. So it is very hard to add more segments. Applying subdivision level 1 to that cylindrical part (2nd image hard edges defined) and adding edge loops works, but it will convert the whole thing to complex object (3rd image).

You need to learn how to localize detail and gradually reduce unneded detail whenever possible

Note that there are no other ways. You *can't* describe a hole on a curved surface without the proper amount of edges.
