Generator mask problem

hi guys, does adding a generator like mg dirt on a mask locks the mask so u cant manually edit it?
because i am not able to edit the mask manully with a generator below it:(

You can add additional paint layers on top of the generator. Same context menu but the option below "add generator". Also you can set the generator and the paint layers to different blending modes to get different effects.

but it will only allow me to manipulate the alerady masked texture
I mean i wont be able to unmask the alerady masked area with a white brush
