How is the concept art, illustration and vis-dev scene in Eastern Europe?

Hello!

I'm looking into gathering information as to how Eastern Europe is handling their concept art, illustration and visual development scene, especially for juniors.

How is the market going?
Are there positions available for juniors, be it in games, film, animation or even advertising?
Do clients look for studios in Eastern Europe or most look towards America in that regard?

    1. that's a very vague question?
    2. yes
    3. you mean outsourcing? Considering how often the work gets outsourced to Asia I'm pretty sure there are also clients who are interested in studios in Europe.

As for illustration and concept art, most of illustrators are freelancers, often working for foreign clients. Mobile games studios also hire concept artists but usually require lots of additional skills.
Big studios, if you find any, don't need junior concept artists since they get plenty of applications from experienced people.

So you mean there are junior positions available for illustration/concept but they are restricted to small studios on top of requiring additional skills?
    Correct?

Which additional skills would those be?

Hmm. I believe ZXCMAN is located in Eastern Ukraine. Maybe sending him a PM or something?

Yeah, usually. Though it should be noted that studios often don't write 'junior' to limit the amount of applications from complete noobs. it doesn't mean that expectations are always extremely high.
Which additional skills would those be?

it depends, but most common are UI design, any type of painted or vector artworks, promo art, animated sprites, FX etc. Sometimes 2D animation is a must.
In fact in small studios the position is often called something like '2d designer' or '2d artist', and requirements include concept art skill.
