need help

im trying my hand at pbr and im stuck on the metalness map it is confusing me slightly when i apply the map white for metal and black for non metals it is turning my whole mesh black and im not sure what is going on.

The metal is trying to reflect its environment. It will look black if there's nothing for it to reflect. Add some HDR environment.

not really relevant lol but whatever, also doesn't 3do have hdr environments for its lighting.

no that doesn't change anything it still stays black.

PBR Materials means precise values in all the slot of your material. What does your Gloss look like ?

I never have use this soft is it using Specular/Glossiness or metalness Render ?
