shrinking selected polys

Hey,

Working on a level for a racing sim.

In max i wanna make the road polys narrower (without affecting terrain bordering road) It seems like it should be an easy thing to do , but its not ! lol

In pic road polys are selected (red).

ideas?

In the Editable Poly modifier, select the edge ring, then set the action center to Use Pivot Centers, and scale.

Forgot, you also need to set the Reference Coordinate System to Local.
