Copy - Move - duplicate finger problem

hello polycount users,
i have a big problem , copy a finger in Zbrush!!
My workflow would be...
1. Make hand with 1 finger
2. Duplicate the hand and TRY to trim everything out, so that only the finger is there
3. i want to move the finger to the hand... but then there is alway a little small poly, that stretch. Look at the attached photo
how can i fix that?
Im gettin a littlbe bit confusing, because something in step 2 is totally complicated. With the trim brush its like " try and error". When i want to cut of something, it works sometimes, but why only sometimes.
