Fixing spiral topology?

I z-remeshed a boot and did a GoZ to 3dS max. It has that problem where if you add a swift loop/connect the edge goes all the way around, all over the mesh. I've spent way too long trying to fix it in one area only to find I've just fixed a really small section. Is there any official solution here?

Use proper Zremesh curve guides to avoid spirals. Or do it by hand from the start.

Also, zremesher in 4r7 doens't produce spirals at all - at least haven't seen them again after brush update.
