Game artist Academy student stuff

Hello fellas, I´m relativly new on posting on this forum, but I´d like to start doing it often

I´m a cg artist currently studying in the GAA to became a Good Character Artist. Currently we are starting our last semester an the journy is being really intense and awesome. So I´m gonna start to try to make some game ready characters and all your crits and comments are very welcome.

I started the head, but as really liked how it was going decided to make a complete character out of it, so here is the almost finished sculpt, starting retopo asap, hope you like it

I was searching info about that course just now and there pops up your post o-o

Awesome to see someone of the GAA here. Would you mind if I ask a few question ?
Is the course doable for someone with regular Joe dayjob and no obligations towards a social life ?
What skill level would you suggest before enrolling ? ( I realize this is a hard one, feel free to skip ^^; )

All your work looks professional to me, I cant help with crits at all, love your works truly !

Hey there SpaceRogue, Thanks a lot bro

I´m currently a cg teacher and also do some freelance work so I´d say that it is doable with no doubt man!! besides my work I´m married and have five kids, so If I can do it anyone can for sure. to be honest I sleep very little jajaja. About the lever before enrolling, we have people of very different levels on the class, but imo I´d say that it´s good to have an overall understanding of 3d stuff, like modelling, uv´s materials... and also have at least some knowledge of zbrush or mudbox. That way you can spend more time focusing in the art rather than learning software. but for example I´m a max user and learned a bit of maya during the course...

And thank you so much for the info, helps a ton and all of that is sounding very positive tbh

Digital Tutors and other sources focus on the technical parts but yeah that'll only get one that far.

Duuuude this is fantastic! Only crit I have, and it's minimal at best, is his head seems narrow. Maybe due to the camera angle or how you sculpted it in the first place. Just something that caught my eye, not in a bad way though

I really like the whole piece

Thank you very much Chase!! yeah the head is narrow, if you see the concept that Is based on, you´ll see it´s pretty stylized, I tryed to get that feeling

Something pretty nitpicky, as this piece is pretty dope. The wrap on the handle of the bat seems to be super flat and lacking any normal information. With all the awesome normal work that you have throughout the entire character, and the bat handle being pretty near the head (a focal point with your piece) it stands out to me as being 'unfinished'. I think with a quick nDo pass to create some quick normals to pop, would really finish this out for me. Obviously something super nitpicky.
