Hey there,
I am going to join this awesome challenge as well and wish everyone good luck and a great creative time.
My idea is to create a abandon, destroyed throne room. A long time ago the realms palace was invaded and after its fall abandoned and never rebuild.

And a first very rough over paint. I think it shows a bit the mood already even though I am not totally happy as something is missing here. But back to work now.
The Story for the chains: They are used by the attacking forces to pull down the walls. They were shot from big Ballistas to anchor into the walls and the chains are used to pull the walls down. The remaining ones are doing the oposite and holding the walls when the castel fell apart.
Still there is a lot to define and to blockout but I started working on the floor texture to define material and style bit more.
As well as this I was also doing some work in Substance Designer to create a material network I can use for almost all my stone assets. So I came up with something like 50% final material. (later I add moss, and dirt etc.) The cool thing is, I only need to change the Hi and Low Poly to generate the same base material for all modules. I started doing my Wall Textures as a test case. V vertex colours are used to blend two different materials together.
I am now defining my modules and here is a first selection. They will be done in Max and ZBrush and get the same Substance Designer network Material I used already for my wall textures.

EpicBeardMan: Good point. I am playing around with lighting and material to get the right look and feel. Atm. The stone looks bit to metallic in general.
I am now in the asset creation bit. Great fun but bit slow progress as I only have weekends to work on the scene. I try to use one Substance to get the base material for all of my stone assets.
Here are some of the Assets quickly put together. Still long way to go thougth.
