Female Rebel Concept

Hi everyone,

I am working on a project to create a female rebel character based off of a friends concept art.

Here is the model which is to be kept under 30k tris. I found the hairstyle awkward to model so I altered it slightly.

and I will be modelling another version under 10k tris.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What texture maps were you planning to use?

I am using a texture map and normal map that I have created in ZBrush and now have to clean up in photoshop.

You planning to pump out Specular Maps of any kind?

You're only using about 63% of your UV space. That is pretty low and will result in too low a resolution in your textures and too much wasted memory on empty nothingness pixels.
Try and get that up over 80% or so. That will help out plenty.

You're right about the wasted space. As I posted the maps and looked at them I realised I wasn't using the space efficiently. That is something I will try to correct. Thanks for the advice.

Are you familiar with Physically-Based Rendering by any chance? You might want to do that instead since that's a much more current-gen texturing and rendering workflow.

You can still optimize your UV map. If anything, you should remodel your mesh to accommodate for better mesh flow, stronger silhouette and a better UV island placement.

I am familiar with PBR but I have not had much practice with it. I made the choice to texture in this way and I have to stick to it for my project but I appreciate the advice.

If I have time in the near future I think I would like to remodel the mesh and improve it further but, right now, I don't have the luxury of time to change it
