Hi! I´m planing to design a new skin for Diana. The concept is based on the topic "bloodmoon". I thought this would fit Diana´s story. Still not sure about the color arrangement and the costume. But here are some first references. I hope I´ll figure something out

Starting with some head sketches. For these I focused on Michael Maurinos beautiful Diana-Concepts. I redrew some of them a few times and made some further perspectives to become more familiar with her look and facial features. I also made them to have some sort of dummy for different hairstyles, accessories, colors etc.

hey there, thanks for the feedback! The crescent elements on her head actually meant to be a start for a hair accessory

But I also thought about some sort of glowing tattoos somewhere on her body. If it won´t overload her all over look, I will give it a try.

In the meantime I sketched out two pose options. Can´t decide if I want to show her in a more slower movement or an action pose. What do you guys think? What would fit her better?

Wow love the first pose, perspective is spot on, great torque in the hips. This must be the slower pose, which I think combined with the perspective, makes her feel very powerful. The second pose is sprite and quick, shows agility, but is lacking the power of the first one.

this is one of the costume ideas I had. It´s very, very basic. No shoes, no details and hardly color. I really like her classic skin and want to somehow keep the simplicity and elegance of it. But I´m still unsure about where I want to go with her exactly. It´s gonna be try and error I guess

So opinions are always welcome!

And yes, I think I will keep the first pose as a favorite!

applied the basic outlines of the costume to one of my pose ideas now. And I also threw some color in there to test out a possible mood. When it comes to the perspective there are still some things to fix!

Her design is really awesome! Her hair is catching, looks like Lagertha from vikings. But i think her left arm looks too simple, you may add some bracelets or a glove if you like the idea. Keep rocking!!

Hi there!

I refinded Diana´s face, some of her clothes and started blocking in some colours. Looking at it now makes me think she is way too naked ^^ Besides adding more details to her costume, I might cover some body parts as well. Don´t know yet. The other thing I´m not satisfied with is the background colour. It came out too pinkish in my opinion.

What do you guys think though? Any advice?

I agree with everyone else, this looks so good! I do think that her top shows off a bit too much skin. In her original look she wears a decent amount of armor, but more importantly each of her skins feature both of her shoulders and upper arms covered. Her right arm looks a bit bare in your artwork and I think a bracer/shoulder-piece or even some tattoos would even it out.

That aside, it looks lovely and I can't wait to see it completed! (:

hey, thanks for all the motivating feedback! Some of you guys really made me overthink certain decisions, which I think will have a positive influence on this, since I never worked on an illustration of that kind.

As you can see, I made some changes:

I flipped the whole picture and I´ve also tried to fix some mistakes in the anatomy. I´ll have to continue with that

I needed to cut her apart a few times, so don´t worry about some crooked and left out parts ^^ I´ll fix that also. There is also something wrong with her neck...so the work continues!

And the next important step has be the detail work on her clothes and armour! arggh

Opinions, advice and critique are still welcome. It helps!

I started painting the background and did some more refining here and there. I´m also in the process of correcting the shoulder piece, since it had some perspective mistakes.

Why dont you make the sky red? Goes along well with the theme, bloodmoon diana under a red moonlight from a red moon.

technokill: Yes, you are right. The only reason why I didn´t do it, was because I didn´t want the picture to look too red. I knew I wanted to visualize the theme in her look. That´s why it was more important to me to give her red / orange accessories.

If I painted the sky red now, I´m afraid you wont really see the 3 moons around her for example. I kept the sky blue to have a contrast. But now I´m curios and I will try a version with a red sky

Not too much changed since the last post. While doing the background I fixed some things on her shoulder piece, skirt and the lights. Now it will be all about the details and cleaning up the crappy stuff to finish it. I´ll also try to put some more movement in there to give it some more action
