Diablo 3 Fallen Shaman sculpt

Hi everyone,
So it has been months since I last used Zbrush and even then I did not use it for long enough to get the hang of it.

I have decided to face my fear of characters by making one from a very beloved game. I have a long way to go and i know that the cheeks and mouth need sorting.

Could someone with more experience or tips please let me know what you think

I'm afraid so. There are a few others dotted about the internet but they are even more useless than this one. I'm making the most of it though, just taking my time to make sure it is right.

The concept's snout looks a bit more elongated than yours, and the head is definitely thrust forward.

Your eye ridges are much more prominent than in the concept.

The chords on the neck are odd - they appear to run from the back of the skull to the front of the neck.

Getting closer but still need to adjust the face length i think.

keep it up man! Looking better in the latest update. Earlobes are a bit huge and do us all a favor and kill that red wax material.

I noticed the ear lobe issue as soon as i saved this out :P speaking of materials. The last time...well the only time i used materials, the glassy material i used for the eyes applied to all of the subtools. Is this normal?

You can set a brush to paint a material, so using that technique you can give individual subtools different matcaps. For sculpting though, the red wax is not ideal, it obscures details and may exaggerate things that need work. So switch it out for something else, just a basic gray would do, and there are lots of great matcaps you can download online.

you can also do fill color with only material switched on on a subtool, then only the subtool will get filled with the materiel

Just another update. Since the last version, I have tweaked the horns, shortened the head and made the neck thinner. Got a few more things to correct before moving onto the body.

Also changed the material :P

Afraid I am in need of some more help. I am starting on the body but trying to plan ahead. The shaman has bandage aroung its stomach and arms. Any tips on how i could sculpt this?

mask the area covered and then in subtool menu go --> extract, set the thickness you like (it wont accept till you hit the accept button so you can adjust the extract as you like) and then hit accept

now you can sculpt on the bandages as own subtool and it follows the surface

spend just a bit more time on the horn curves, it will be worth it!

Well the good news is that I have fixed the curves of the horns

Think Ill the starting the body again out of ZSpheres so that I can pose it beforehand.

Thanks for the bandage tips. Might give it a trial run before I try to do it on the shaman but overall I'm hopeful :P
