[Chivalry] - Warhammer - Guilty Gavel

So I think I am going to try to get another set done by the end of the contest. This time I will be doing something for the Mason Knight. I have had this idea of judgement iconography floating through my head so I am going to take a stab at something kind of different here.

So first off, the weapon I am going with is a warhammer and I am deeming it the Guilty Gavel!!!!

Thanks man! It has been a struggle to get the idea down on paper but I think I know where I want to go. Might be a bit outside the style of the game but I already did a set that fits right in so I want to straddle that border a bit

I think it's a great concept. Sometimes I wish chivalry was just a pure fantasy game, with the medieval/fantasy border completely removed. Think of all the awesome and hilarious hats we could make...

But I think that's what kind of makes Chivalry different is the fact they're not like DOTA or Skyrim, they're their own thing which is good.

@Dobrin Thanks! Yeah it is a bit. I think I will try it out and try to fit the texture style inside of Chivalry. Worst case, I could end up with a nice portfolio piece

Medieval Judge Dred. So many cheese lines come to mind. Nice high poly, it does feel courtly.

@soulstice Thanks! Yeah I hope that I have time to finish a second set. If not, at least just finish this hammer. Really trying to get it done quickly. The details are just taking a bit.

Here's some more progress on the gavel. I think I am going to have to just finish it off tonight and start on the low poly because I really am pushing it to have enough time to complete a helmet to get a set done! I really don't want to submit just the hammer but may have to....... Anyway, Prooooooogrreeeeeeesss

@N4meless Yeah, I wanted to really try to push myself to push in a lot of detail this one.

Working on the low poly and tweaking little things in the high poly at the moment. Sitting at 4,976 tris at the moment. Though it's under the limit, I am going to try to optimize it a bit more.

I think I will be dropping this down to just being a replacement weapon and not a set. I would rather take my time getting this finished and do it well than try to get it done and rush a helmet next week taking away from the quality of this piece. Comments? Suggestions? Favorite snack?

The maul is looking good! The level of detail on it is really quite epic. Is the twisted metal on the handle going to be rounded like in the high poly, or like twisted bar stock (more authentic)?

Not sure on the handle. I am hoping to get a good deal of the rounding out of the normal map but using some twisting there in the mesh for a bit of definition. Might have to adjust it for the silhouette to read better.

looks good, though I think it might be too ornate, to much little details for the texture size you can use and even if that isn't a problem it affects the readability,
the little women is awesome though

Yeah I have an idea for helping with the texture resolution so I will see how that turns out. I just thought I would really push it on this and see how it worked out. If it doesn't read well, it may not win but it was fun to work on :-)

well, you can make the maul head larger in UV right? It should work... it's 2048x2048; that's like a canvas size larger than most monitors. You can do it!
