i want to build a Latern in the style you see on the pictue below for a game scene. I dont know how to build this in the best and most efficient way. Please tell me how you would build this to get a good looking and low poly result.

You could also just model the whole thing flat then bend it into a cylinder.
It's easier to model things like this as one big flat surface, and roll it up with a bend modifier. And yes, you could only model out one square or diamond for dupication as the others say.
i build now these pattern for the cage of my latern. how shall i get the pattern on my low poly and how it is possible to get the holes so that its able to look through them?
