Hey guys, so after seeing all the amazing work being done for Dota 2 i thought id finally give it ago my self!

Have recently been trying to get some ideas for some items to create, so first of all i plan to make a bow for the Windranger

Here is some VERY rough/quick blockout design ideas for a eagle themed bow, i really want to incorporate wings of some kind and an eagles head, Just wanted some feedback from some of you guys with which design or general direction you prefer, from which i will refine and make a more detailed concept to then start creating the asset

haven't had time to work on any assets recently due to other projects/work, have been rethinking the design and done another rough concept, going to hopefully move onto the high poly sculpt after refining this design

Just blocking out initial forms and getting the design pined down ,will move onto sculpting once that's done

Started this thread a while back but never got the opportunity to keep working on it as more urgent work and other personal projects got in the way, have started some work on this again now, decided to continue to make this bow for the windranger but make it into a set, here is a quick paint over gif of my design in comparison to the original character. any crits or comments on the design will be greatly appreciated!

some early progress on the model/sculpt, still need to switch out the shoulder pads and continue sculpting in most parts

some progress with the bow sculpt, dont plan to go mad with unnecessary detailing that will never be seen but want to really refine the form and silhouette to get the best out the asset and allow me to really pus the texturing

I suggest u to fill up the gaps between those feather=like elements, it will look better in game and can help u save polys.

@ Reza: Yeh thanks man, that was definitely the plan for the low poly

some progress with the head piece now, all baked down and progressing with the texture, just diff and normal atm no masks yet, going to use some polys from the hair and use them in the hood as its looking a little faceted atm.

so I managed to get the head piece exported and into the viewer, glad to have got it in without any major problems although the textures seem to be getting quite badly compressed, not sure why this is or if there is a way to improve this, also when i try to launch the in game preview Dota seems to crash straight out every time, does anyone know what is causing this?
