Texturing looking for help

Hey everyone, I've been trying to practice my texturing and have been having some difficulty. If anyone could provide some feedback I'd greatly appreciate it. I have uploaded the UV as I'm working on it in photoshop and a render of it on the model.

Its hard to give critique when you don't tell us what exactly you are having difficulty with. Did you need pointers on texturing in general or just for hand painted textures?

The only real feedback I can give right now is that it looks really flat and boring--this is probably because you are only using a diffuse map.

In my opinion you should use a little bit of higher resolution, for me it seems to be a little pixelated! I also would add more details to the texture, not only the green skin!
But looks good so far, so what is exactly your problem?

Well like ClusterOne pointed out I feel like the diffuse map is very boring and doesn't pop.
I generaly use a hand painted texture approach so any advice on that is appreciated.

The most obvious thing you are lacking is any real value. No directional light, shadows under the arms and body, etc. It's also clear you're just using a stencil brush to add texture which won't get you far in the realm of hand painted textures. If you want a painterly feel, you're going to have to learn how to manually paint and blend colors by hand. Try to use stencils and filters as a way to supplement your painting, not act as a crutch. I would suggest just avoiding them altogether if you're just starting out.

Thanks for the feedback guys I appreciate it. I'm still fairly new at understanding how to properly texture this helps a lot.
