Baking Vertex Color from HP to LP as Diffuse in Max

Hello guys,

thats my situation. I created a Hp Model in 3ds max and reduced it on a low poly. I done an unwrap for my lp and baked a normal and an ao map out. all this worked fine and the maps looked good.

I got many single details like bolts on my hp model, which are deleted at the lp version to get a lower polycount.

I wanted to bake a diffuse map with different colors out of max to texture my lowpoly. Therefore i wanted to set colors by a multi-sup object through giving the different areas different ID's. As i mentioned before many of my geometry details like bolts are missing on my lp and are baked on the normal map. How shall i create a good color map for ddo?

I tryed to give my hp different colors by using face Id's and bake it via vertex color on my lp. I tryed different ways to do this with max and x-normal but nothing worked. Iam not very experienced in baking vertex colors.

Whats the best Way to get a good color map for ddo? Any ideas?
