TF2 Weapon sizes

Hi Polycount,
i can't seem to find any information on how you're meant to know how big to build weapons so they fit correctly when held by the character and match animations properly. I have the models and rigs downloaded but i have no reference for weapon sizes.

The best thing you can do is decompile the weapon models and import them into your modeling program. It may look like a lot of hassle but it's well worth it for this kind of stuff.

You'll need to download mdldecompiler.

I had some issues with this, I found in the end that I needed to use Crowbar to decompile and Guistudiomdl to compile for it to work.
