Maintaining Creative Drive

Anyone got any thoughts on maintaining creative drive? Through I can try to push through the rut but that usually just burns me out worse than just taking a break. It's not that I stop creating altogether I just have to do technical stuff that doesn't really on my imagination as much.

On a longer burnout I just switch to a new medium for a while, but the cost can add up pretty fast, especially for someone who only gets pickup work.

So what do you guys do?

I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but there are probably at least a dozen threads about this very subject in this forum. Use the search feature and you should be able to find many pages of responses to similar questions.
