Photoshop exporting layers

Is it possible to export just a single layer out of Photoshop without flattening it, and deleting other layers. As a fallowup question I would like to export a layered group, as a flattened image. I would like to select a layered group and export everything in that group as a flattened image, without it affecting the other layers in the stack.

Exports layergroups, to files, and can even compose 1 image from multiple layer groups.

Could also be done as a action in Photoshop but I like this script better

In photoshop CC or CS6 ? you can export things by naming the layers in a special way like "background @jpg_10" or something like that and it will export them as bitmaps based on layer bounds , but I do not know exactly how the feature is called
