I call him, "Notte'a'Locuste".

He's still a work in progress, but I wanted to get him to a presentable state.

4096x2 (body, costume) diffuse, normal, gloss, specular, and emissive maps. Yes it's overkill: totally next gen.

Rendered in Marmoset, textured with Ddo, polypainting, and hand painting.

I want to get him into an environment, and give him a gun. I'm open to suggestions.

Looks like all your metal pieces are sculpted. And even non-metal too. I'd recommend more hard-surface approach, because as is it looks wonky and if made of clay, not metal. Too similar to the organic nature of the beast's body and that make it blur together.

Yeah, I need to better represent the metal aspects of his costume, and further tweak surface gloss/specularity. I disagree however about the forms blending into his body; if anything the color palette isn't high enough contrast/hue to really pop. Further describe wonky? I approach everything pretty organically, even hard surfaces. I personally dislike too many hard edges, but the Gears style is a bit softer than most scifi styles (Halo, Mass Effect) and I wanted to emulate that style. Let me know if this sounds bullshitty, or if I'm not understanding your critique. Thanks for the comment man.
