Zbrush blending two meshes help

Hello, I'm currently going through a tutorial for Zbrush and I ran into a problem. When I try to blend two meshes together, the original mesh becomes very distorted. I have two images attached that show what my problem is. Thanks for any help.

Hmm, not too sure. I've had not-dissimiliar issues when the original mesh has been partly hidden or masked. It's probably worth making sure the whole thing is visible and unmasked, possibly even deleting lower subdivision levels too.

If it isn't partially hidden, then you'll probably want to make sure your shapes are closed-volumes as well.

Looks like its trying to connect to that whole purple poly group. Make a polygroup right below the new cylinder or get it closer and try dynameshing it together.
