UDK Import Mesh Issue

Hi all, have run into a problem while importing this mesh into UDK. The railing has done something that I'm not sure how to fix. Have tried importing multiple times. Mesh made in Maya 2014. Any ideas?

    Show your mesh in maya? before export? That should give some insight.

    Check if your modeling stack is frozen, if not freeze it. Check if this also happens when you reimport the exported mesh into maya.

    Delete history and freeze transforms.

    Look at the hierarchy in maya's hypershade - have it selected then hit the preview button (looks like " [>> ")

    Export it out as an obj then reimport it into maya. If it imports with the same issue something is definitely wrong and might be easier to remodel that portion than troubleshoot any further. If it imports fine, then use that model as the export because this "cleaned" it.
