Hey guys I built a custom PC a couple of months ago with Mudbox in mind, buying a professional graphics card to ensure good performance. However I noticed mudbox is incredibly slow when I try to model near the 16 million polygon mark and I was wondering if this is normal or if my machine should be performing better. Below are my specs:

Intel Core i5 4670K processor (3.4 GHz 6mb cache)
ATI FirePro V5900 (PCI-e, 2GB GDDR5 memory)
Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3
Kingston SSD 240gb
1tb hard drive

depends on some things... how dens the base mesh is... and how big the brushes are..?

mudbox needs an even and really low base mesh... cause its creating patches to work faster...

and its not good with large brushes in higher levels...

Once again, thank you Oglu! :D You have helped me so much over these last few weeks! I really appreciate it and couldn't have gotten through some of these difficult early learning stage problems without it.

if mud is still slow in higher levels you could isolate parts of the mesh to get speed back...

select some faces on level0 and create a selection set... select those set in your highest level and isolate it...
