Washed out normal

Hello all,

I'm having a bit of an issue with baking a normal map. I've just retopoed the mesh, hardened the normals where it need to be and uv'd it but when I bake out the maps and plug it in, the results are washed out and all the detail is lost.

Not sure if it's a case of a bad retopo, lack of topology, bad uv's or incorrect smoothing groups set up. I'm using Maya to retopo and xNormal to bake out the maps.
