anyone know how I would rig a building transforming?

An example would be I have a building built in Maya and I want sections of the building to scale from nothing tomits final built state. Anyone know I would go about doing this? I'm guessing I would add a joint to have section of the house or building I have, weight each section to its joint and then build a control to adjust scaling and everything?

I really hope someone knows what I'm talking about, I'm not a rigger and I'm hoping someone on here could maybe point me to a tutorial or something or give advice on how they would go Bout creating this? Much appreciate any advice on this!

You can technically do this without bones by having each movable part as an individual child under a parent portion of the building (such as the foundation); but it probably depends on which engine you're going into. I know Unity recognizes basic transformation keyframes if they are exported with your model but if you want any complex bending of elements you'll need to rig it.
