I'm working on character models for a game with some peeps, so now's a great time to try and push myself farther than I've ever been! The important details are that we'll need customizaable characters(a topic I've never messed with, but am eager to figure out!) in a sci-fi setting.

First thing to do is make basic character models to start with! Sculpting is something that I definitely need more practice with, so now I've got my female high-poly put together I'd like to get some advice on it if possible before taking it further!

In the meantime, I've got to get to work on the basic male model as well!

There are a lot of threads on here about human anatomy. It's really a very hard thing to get correct without practicing over and over. I still struggle with small things here and there, but it's those small things that can make a sculpt unbelievable. First and formost get some reference and study some artist anatomy! Happy hunting.

I have a copy of Atlast of Human Anatomy for the Artist that I've been studying from, but I'll definitely have to check out the studies other people have done and try and learn something from them as well!

Male sculpt is done and ran into some issues. There's some pretty horrific distortion on the feet. Not sure if I should start over from scratch or try to salvage the model.

While anatomy charts are essential it's also as important to look at real people. That's where you'll get an idea of the volumes of the body and how the muscles and bones interact with the skin.
Most importantly you must get an understanding of the basic forms and proportions of the human body. I very much recommend checking out this YouTube channel for that sort of thing.
