decals not drawing on reflection shader

Hey guys, ok I'm really really new to Cryengine, but i've got a small issue.

I have an object that's using a multi-mat shader with about 8 sub-mats on it.
The single mesh in cryengine has some metal which i'd like to be reflective, but also has decals drawing over it. When i turn environment map on in the metal sub-mat, the decals vanish.

Is this caused by sorting issues (the metal shader is sub-mat 3, decals is sub-mat 6) or is it a bug or other cause?

Cheers for any help on this subject, I'll see about posting up some shots from the engine when i get home if they're needed.
